Michael Milton had cancer as a young boy of nine years old and lost his leg. He went on to become an accomplished downhill skier competing in six paralympic games and winning many gold medals. In 2006 Michael claimed the mantle of Australia's fastest snow skier at 213.65 km/hr (132.75mph). In 2007 Michael was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and in 2008 he was selected for the Australian paralympic cycling team. He competed in the Beijing Paralympics in under 12 months after surgery for the oesophageal cancer.

Michael is a veteran of many winter paralympics competing as a downhill skier since 14 years of age. I am unsure but he must be one of very few that has now competed in both winter and summer olympic games.
