Good Morning
Everyone,
It has been some time since I last forwarded an update on Sandra’s progress. The reason for the gap between updates was due to our recent 5 week holiday in Malaysia and Australia.
Although we love Hong Kong it was a blessing to be able to leave here on the 5th February for our first holiday since Sandra’s treatment started in July last year.
After receiving the all clear to travel we excitedly packed our bags, arranged our tickets and accommodation and counted down the days to departure.
We spent 5 days in Kuala Lumpur at a Spa Resort ( http://kualalumpur.sunwayhotels.com/stay/villas/stay_villas.asp) and treated ourselves to massages, facials, sleep-ins and switching off – it was perfect apart from me coming down with a stomach bug for a few days.
We flew to Melbourne, Australia after our stay in Kuala Lumpur. We spent a week with my family in and around Melbourne. We had a wonderful time catching up with my extended family. My sister lost her house in the devastating fires that swept through the area so it was nice to be able to spend some time with my family after this terrible incident. A big thank you to Steve and Casey, Dad and Ally and Sue and Scott for making our stay so special. Your hospitality was perfect!!
We flew to Sydney from Melbourne. We spent two days in the Blue Mountains ( http://www.visitbluemountains.com.au/) with Jeff and Wendy and their family. These wonderful people opened their house to us and treated us so very well. Special friends!! They live in a wonderful part of the country and it was so wonderful to be able to wake up late and sit and chat. Thank you so much guys.
From Sydney we drove a couple of hours south and checked into a country resort called Craigieburn Resort ( http://www.visitbluemountains.com.au/). It is located in the Southern Highlands (south of Sydney). We spent two nights by ourselves in this wonderful resort. We spent the days touring around the highlands. The natural beauty in the area is worth seeing and it was nice to be able to show it to my Princess.
We continued our visit to New South Wales with a three night stay in Nowra. We have many friends in and around the township of Nowra (http://www.jervisbaytourism.com.au/) and it was great to be able to catch up with quite a few of them. A big thanks goes to Andrew and Sharon, Marty and Di and Lance and Kathy for your hospitality and friendship. Being able to spend time with you all was wonderful. Short but wonderful!
We drove back to Sydney and had a beautiful dinner with Michael and Caroline in their lovely home in northern Sydney. Thank you guys for a wonderful evening – all too short.
From Sydney we flew to Brisbane, hired a car then drove down to the Gold Coast ( http://www.goldcoastaustralia.com/) where we spent the remainder of our holiday. Golden beaches, blue skies, clean ocean and plenty of relaxing!! We completely switched off (apart from Sandra having to have a root canal done on one of the days!!). We intentionally had no agenda but we did catch up with a few friends as the opportunity presented. Thanks to Pat and Dee, Andrew and Eddie and Felicity. It was great to catch up with you all and to share some time with you.
After nearly 4 weeks in Australia we returned to Hong Kong on the 8th March. We arrived refreshed, healthy and very relaxed. Sandra had a blood test on Thursday (12th) and it was completely normal. Sandra is looking great and she feels very healthy. She has gained some weight and her confidence is returning too. We are now focused on returning to Canada (early June) for summer.

To those friends that we didn’t catch up with in Australia we apologise. After arriving in Australia we realised that we really needed to STOP and smell the roses. This meant wiping our agenda planning board clean and taking in visits as our bodies and minds felt up to it. Next time!! You were in our minds and hearts and we thank you for taking the time to contact us when we were “in town”.
We look forward to hearing how your own start to 2009 has been and we hope this finds you all well.
Thank you again for your ongoing support, prayer and love.
